It is beginning..................

...............to look like Christmas!!!!!
My Living room is filled with boxes and storage containers..filled with wonderful treasures. I know some like to change thier Christmas theme every year, but It's comforting to open boxes filled with memories...it's like seeing old friends. Some of my treasures are from my childhood others are vintage finds that make me smile.
Okay...here goes....I'm goin in. I'll be right back ;)
Hi I'm back. Well I started the tree......................................................................................................

I wanted to show some of my fav bintage..and not so vintage.....ornaments..................................................
(you can click on pics to see better)

This is my 'new' tree topper. Jim found it last New Years week at an Antique Mall..I forget where.. It is a 1940's alimuinum (yea) light up treetopper. It came in it's original box and wasn't dinged or anything!
This is an aluminum light reflector with plastic color bursts in primary colors..to match the topper... These were my Grandma's from the 40's too.

These 3 ornaments are from the 60's...they reminded me of my tree at my Mom and Dad's...these aren't
the ones from their tree...LOL...Mom still uses hers!

This is a 1940's ornament with a toy motif.

These 2 ornaments are from the 40's too. I love the little frosted glass bell and the other is a plastic with aluminum whirligig that spins when placed over a tree lightbulb.

I love my set of these 1950-60 plastic ornaments. I found them in a box of broken ornaments..the 'kids' selling em at the flea market thought they had a cellophane over the holes...hehehe. I didn't have the heart not to tell them they weren't broken.....they said they had more at home and thanked me for the honesty...I got for .25 each!
This isn't old. It's a hand-painted ornament from the Smokies
This one isn't old either. You place it over the lightbulb and the sky lights. (it's not cracked that's tinsel)

These 2 ornaments are from the 50's. Sorry it's blurry.......I love the pink and gold of the ball and the flocked snow scene of the coveredbridge.  The other has a duck motif.....that must've been a popular motif back then. I have that table cloth that I created my placemats with that are for sale on my website HERE and Mom found a matching carafe...hmmmm
This last pic is of a Viking Glass? lidded/footed cloche that was Jim's Grandmother's. It is filled with glass ornaments and glass bead garland from my Grandma. It's all from the 40's.
Now I'm off to finish the tree and get more things out to share.  See ya later!

I do change my look every year now that the kids aren't home anymore. I still look at all the old ornaments, they just don't go on the tree now. Maybe one of these days I'll get to have Christmas here and they will come out again. I do love the memories that go with all those "child made" things. I don't have any ornaments from my childhood, they must still be in storage at my dad's.

Hi Melody, How much snow do you have now?? They said on the news that it was snowing pretty good. We had the high winds, some snow, and cold so far. They are talking now about possible having some freezing drizzle tomorrow. Ice just what I want to hear. We have been lucky so far.
My blood pressure medicine is working. Yea. Now maybe I can add back the other medication that I am suppose to take, but he wanted me to get the blood pressure back. It was a battle, but you can't give up when you are dealing with the insurance companies. I hope they do repeal the new health care law because it isn't helping us that is for sure. I enjoyed reading your previous post. We are going to spend Christmas Eve at Angie's house. She has the upside down tree that I posted with Ethan. She decorates every room in the house.
Hope you are doing o.k. We are doing o.k. so far except for some colds, but you don't know whether you want to dress in layers or not. Take Care Your Missouri Friend Shirley

Hi Melody, Your tree is gorgeous and I love the vintage ornaments. I can relate to all the bins full of decor. I went through the same in my home. When bringing them out, the house is a mess before it looks pretty!! LOL I think we all go through this.

So great to see you and thank you for your blog visit. I have missed you and hope you are feeling better now with allergy issues.

Have a wonderful season and enjoy!
Merry Christmas dear friend.
Love to you, Celestina Marie

Your ornaments are so much fun. I especially adore the aluminum ones, I don't think I've ever seen any before? They are so charming and how great you've got one from your grandma and your hubbies grandma too! Love the one with the spinning thingamabob, how great is that. You've got so many wonderful treasures. Wishing you a very happy holiday season!

Happy Rednesday too :)

Oh my goodness!!! I LOVE anything vintage that reminds me of my mom's or grandmother's trees growing up! Those 50s and 60s ornaments are my fav! I have a box of "Sta-bright" (I think) that include pink, green and some beautiful colors I got at a thrift store. I pretty much do the same thing year after year. I always use the big colored lights and I bought bubble lights a few years ago, but the strands were very short and they got really hot. I also LOVE icicles dripping from the tree. You just made me smile:-)

I love your vintage Christmas tree Melody, especially that some of the ornaments are family heirlooms! It's such a pleasure to unwrap each one and look at it before putting it on the tree!
Happy REDnesday!
