What's Old is New

Now while walking through a flea market or antique mall I expect my 'Vintometer' to go off in my head.....you now that giddy feeling...the aw moment...when you see something and your 'vintometer' goes off and you think I remember that....that was in whatsherface's house......Grandma loved that......well. while walking through Hancock and Joanne's Fabric, Home Good's and Hobby Lobby....even Wal-Mart recently my 'vintometer' went off. I was just out trying to get some inspiration, so upon my return home I began looking through some of my vintage magazines and guess what I realized.......MY 'vintometer' is pretty good.

1958 House Beautiful 1001 Color Schemes for your Spring Decorating

The fabric of our lives are back!! He He.

Isn't it too  cool! All the pattern, color, texture, all original...today retro and look at this.....................
1958........or........2011 Hobby Lobby? The pic is from the 1958 mag pictured above. The I found these ads in a couple other 1950 magazines..................................
The blanket in this 1950's ad is very similar to one I saw at Wal-Mart a while back, but take a close look at that bed skirt......pink lace!!!

and, this 1950's  reproduction Colonial bedroom suite looks very similar to one we saw at Ashley Furniture. Then while at Home Goods I like to go thru the pillow isle.........

The patterns and colors were very similar to these 1906 examples from this book.......

You ordered the stamped pillow, threads, etc, and embroidered it yourself.
Isn't it amazing how some think everything 'new' is so much better.....I'll say it again
Everything Old is New again!

So funny - "Vintometer"! We bloggers know how to coin some interesting words, don't we? I love old magazines, and you're so right, Melody. Nothing is EVER totally new. There's always a hint of the past somewhere. ;)

Have a terrific holiday weekend!

"Vintometer"! I like that, Melody!! Yes, my OWN vintometer goes off at times too, and then I have to clear my head and really think, really hard, whether I have ROOM for what my vintometer's bells and whistles are absolutely SCREAMING over!.. Well, anyways, love your new blog header! Very nice!.. Hope you're enjoying your weekend! ~tina

Happy Pink Saturday! Very nice vintage post! Isn't it amazing that things come around and around time and again? Good thing we like them! It's not so good when we don't - like some fashions and such. Enjoyed my visit. Thanks. Jenn

Beautiful HPS to you! I think you have to hang on to things because they come back full circle! My late older sister had all that beautiful early American/Colonial furniture in her home. Beautiful!
ENjoy the weekend and loved your post. Anne

I love the concept of a "Vint-o-meter."

My mom saved all those magazines, but I confess, we finally dumped them years ago. I suppose we should have donated them instead, but that's water under the bridge.

Thank you for sharing them with us - you're more wise!

Happy Pink SAturday weekend.

Oh no! I am so sorry Darlin'!! I know it is hard for you. I never meant to make you feel bad!! I know you are a sweetie!! Really, I'm sorry!!

Those pictures are fabulous though. Meaning, it looks dimensional! The trim looks like it is sticking out!! It's hard to get good dimension in pictures. They really knew how to do things back then, didn't they!!!
Feel good!
