We interrupt this girlie blog...................................

..........................for a vintage Carguy. I must admit I have a great Carguy. Yes, he's 'vintage', but he loves vintage finds too.
When we go antiqueing or flea marketing it's hilarious to see this guy carrying a rusty gas can in one hand and frilly lace hankies and an apron in the other to ask if I noticed these a booth back. Now ladies, let's admit it
Our guys stuff just does not go with our interior scheme of things...that is why Man Caves on DIY is soooo
popular. I am relieved to realize, and  feeling not so guilty, it's not just me being selfish.
My Carguy has been in the auto industry since birth. Today he's an ASE Chrysler Master Tech. He has all  kinds of old car stuff, awards, model cars...some of which do go in our T.V. room with other vintage toys....
but the majority just does not go upstairs in the main living area...sigh.....Well this Summer we're gonna give him his own space. He recieved this great canopy tent last Fall..........................
It fit perfectly at the double doors off the basement next to the driveway, garage, and parking area.... it smells so good right there due to that huge plant of Bittersweet and these old timey vines of Honeysuckle.......

in the back. It's a nice wooded view, but.........................................................................................

actually there are houses all around us, but in our hollow here, it's pretty quiet. Now a freind gave us some office chairs last week that work quite well with this Carguy's area.........

They are chrome, a golden yellow vinyl, and wood I realized to my delight they match the color on my Scotch Plaid collection! This one used as a little side table has rusted a little at the bottom, but the grass hides that and as you can see it holds pop cans nicely ;0) A while back we found this little gem at the Antique Mall here in town..............................................................................................................

Don't look too close, you'll see a few nicks, dings, and  a little water spot, but for $25 who could pass this up......a Coke cooler used at a ponykeg to hold it and pops with the whole Coca-Cola racing team from the 90's...Um....if you won't be able to tell the Earnhart/Nascar /Chrysler theme is Jim's passion......and hanging above is a Christmas present Mom and Dad gave Jim.......................................

What would a Carguy space be without a little grill area..........................................
Put it all together and it's beginning look a lot like a Carguy's haven...................................
It's a simple start, but on the other side of this pic is the garage....yippee.....we're gonna clean it out....er......
start redecorating it with old car stuff!! He has his own peices ready to go, like this...............................

old Chrysler..should be clock....with the evolution of it's parts division, Mopar, logo. And when the guys come by for lunch on a work day....we live close to the dealership.....he even has his own tableware.......

Remember, this is just the beginning, so we'll be posting as the Summer goes with my Carguy's progress. I thought he had a good start, hope your Guy can get some inspiration...believe me I am sooooo surprized
my Carguy is excited about this decorating..it won't be fancy, but it'll be his.

Don't forget to visit everyone over at It's a Very Cherry World for Rednesday Wednesday

Here we go......

Love everything I'm seeing here today, and it looks like a place I'd love to just kick back and relax in myself.. But I'm just wondering if your vintage man saw the 600-race the other night??.. Oh my gosh, WHAT a disappointing race!!!!!! I was jumping out of my chair and screaming for joy one second, and the next second, I was completely dumbfounded! WHAT?!! OUT OF GAS??!! Poor Dale Jr.. Better luck to him next time, right?... Have a great day! ~tina

This is such a timely post for me, because just the other day, my husband told me that he wants to turn a part of the back porch into an oasis for himself! He has a very stressful job, so weather permitting, he starts his day out there, saying a prayer for the day and communing with nature. I almost fell off my chair when he said that he wants to do a little "decorating" out there. I can't wait to help make it happen!
Happy REDnesday,
Carol

And so is red wine,
But I prefer claret instead!”

He's a lucky guy to have you let him have his own space! You're so sweet to help him decorate it so it'll look welcoming. Great job Melody! Have fun! I hope you are getting your computer problems sorted out. I know how mind numbing that is.
hugs,
Caroline

Oh, that is so sweet, Melody. How fun for you to treat him and that he's excited to have his own space to fill with his kinda goodies. And I could just picture him holding his manly finds in one hand and your frilly hankies and aprons in the other. Sounds just like my manly-man ;) We're so blessed to have them, eh? Happy 1st of June (already!).

I love it! Good for him! Sorry for you! lol
My man LOVES to go to junque stores and stuff with me. he too is carrying all of my stuff, and when I get home I find a bunch of stuff that he bought too! And it is always awesome!
This Saturday is our community yard sale. I am SO EXCITED!!! Mr is coming with me and I know that 50% will be baby stuff, and 25% will be old housewares (not vintage though) but that other unknown 25% is what gets my juices flowing!
I will blog all aboutt it@@!

LOL, you know, most of our guys work hard and deserve a man cave, it's just too bad we all don't live on big farms where we can send them out to the barn! Thanks for always stopping by my blog and leaving such sweet comments! xxoo Nan

LOL I love it! I can totally relate to the carguy thing here (we do live in the Motor City area and every male in my family has always worked at one of the big 3). My brother, who is single and a major motor head (ex-drag racer) always gets a new wreath made by me just for him for Christmas. they are always racing wreaths with a little Christmas touch. LOL

That will be one happy fellow. Having his own little paradise to himself. It is nice that you both share the same interest.

This is a great idea!!! My guy is more of an electronics geek, and luckily he has his own laBORatory not too far from my studio in the basement. We “play side-by-side” nicely in our respective territories, then meet in the evenings on the patio outside (for drinks and reading) in the summer, or in the living room (fireplace and TV) in the winter. The good life! Hugs, Cathy

Hi Melody. I'm your newest Follower. Visiting from SomethingCreatedEveryday.blogspot.com. Thanks for the info on the Dept 56 frog. I came visiting, expecting lots of floral stuff and found a post about cars and car guys. Love your outdoor man-cave idea.
