Happy Rednesday #2 !!

So glad you stopped by today. Last Wednesday was my first  REDnesday and I'd like to thank everyone who linked in and joined the party or sent messages, you made it a RED letter day. If you didn't get to see REDnesday #1 you can go HERE to see highlights of last weeks REDnesday participants.

If you'd like to join this week REDnesday and use the Inlinkz icon.
I can't wait to see you there.

( I told you I'd have the Linky Dohinky up ealier and longer this week. 8)

Okay, If you have noticed earlier I didn't put a full post in, just  an announcement about REDnesday...my computer went down and I couldn't get back online 8/ After a few
hours.....I'm Back!!..........so here it is.

This REDnesday I thought I show what I meant in my past post when I said a blacn wall is my canvas.......

This a long wall that goes from my Kitchen
door leading past the kitchen to the
dining room. and the rest of the house.

The next pics are the dividing wall between the kitchen and dining room.

I don't like wallpaper, so, a nice clean colored wall just screams for a collage of collections. Everything was selected from a special place or given to me by family or friends.. Each piece has a story. In the coming REDnesday's I'll tell you about them. For now  hope you have a wonderful Wednesday

Don't forget my Giveaway this month......................................

Those who join parties or leave comments on posts will be entered to wn the above French Country tablerunner I hand-embroidered, appliqued, and embellished.
This is a little closer look

As a thank you for coming to REDnesday Wednesday

This is a cute embroidery transfer that would look wonderful as a redwork piece ....
Redwork is embroidery done all in red thread.....perfect for upcoming Christmas. It would also be great for a painting pattern. Just hit Copy and  save. To  transfer just take  the printed copy and use carbon or transfer paper, tracing image onto fabric or project surface with a pen ot pencil.
Well, that's it for my REDnesday. I'm off to visit.

Happy Rednesday Wednesday!!!

Welcome to my first Rednesday Wednesday Blog Party. I must admit Rednesday was not my idea. Credit goes to Sue over at It's A Very Cherry World who is an awesome Blogger and good friend. She decided to pass on the baton so to speak and I hope I can as be as good a hostess as she has been over the years.
.
I am so happy you could come for my first Rednesday. Come on in...................................................

We can all gather in the kitchen. As you can see I love red and white with a touch of black. Strawberries are the best to me. I have been collecting red items, aluminum, and strawberry motif things since I was 10...yes I was planning even then..hehe.
OOps, where's my manners....before I show you around.....Can I offer something cool to drink? I know it's gotten a little warm outside.

  • Prep Time10 min
  • Total Time4 hr 10 min
  • Servings10

Ingredients

1
can (12 oz)  frozen organic lemonade concentrate, thawed
1
bag (10 oz)  frozen organic strawberries, thawed
1
cup water
5
cups ginger ale, club soda or lemon-lime carbonated beverage
Directions
  • 1In blender, place lemonade concentrate and strawberries; blend on high speed until smooth. Pour into nonmetal freezer container. Stir in water. Cover; freeze at least 4 hours.
  • 2If mixture is frozen solid, let stand at room temperature about 15 min. For each serving, measure 1/2 cup slush mixture into 8-oz glass; stir in 1/2 cup ginger ale. Serve immediately.

 Oh, I see you're eyeing my wall collages..as I call em...here...

These close-ups let's you see more of my varied collections.
Salt and Peppers, tins, animal cracker boxes,. The red round tins on the bottom shelf are mini cookie/canape cutters from the 40's. The Kraft Cheese box on the second shelf as well as the small Mammoth Cave souvenir mug is a contribution from my CarGuy..Thank goodness he's been a hoarder......er....collector  since childhood too!

More tins, old bottles, Kellogg delivery trucks... CarGuy again. Hey It;s his kitchen too so I put a little touch here and there....some more Salt and Peppers, and of course vintage cook booklets/

I have a lot of Strawberries in my kitchen. This vignette on top of the microwave..LOL...no surface is safe from my accenting.....  shows a few of my fav pieces  A Fitz and Floyd Pitcher, a 1940's creamer and sugar set, salt and pepper, and a Mikasa mixing mixing bowl I purchased at the Mikasa Outlet store when it first opened in Pigeon Forge Tn..  It was only $5! The hand-crocheted doily is a recent find.

Over here is where I do my baking

As you can see I view all walls as a blank canvas just waiting to be filled.

I'm lucky to have counter space

and, even the stove and fridge sport thier red

I know it seems I have a big kitchen, but in reality it is a small galley kitchen It;s warm and cozy to me filled with all my favorite things. Now before you go looking closer grab a little treat I made especially for Rednesday................

Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Cake

Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Cake
Strawberry cake is jam-packed with flavor from tangy strawberry gelatin to rich chocolate frosting

prep Time15 min
total Time 2 hr 0 min
Servings 16

Ingredients

Cake

1
box  white cake mix
1
box (4-serving size) strawberry-flavored gelatin
Water, vegetable oil and whole eggs called for on cake mix box

Dipped Strawberries

1
pint (2 cups) medium-large strawberries (18 to 20 strawberries)
1/2
cup white vanilla baking chips
1
teaspoon shortening or vegetable oil

Filling and Frosting

1
cup seedless strawberry jam
1
container milk chocolate frosting

Directions

  • 1  Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans). Grease and lightly flour bottoms and sides of two 9-inch round cake pans, or spray with baking spray with flour. In large bowl, mix cake mix and gelatin. Beat in water, oil and whole eggs with electric mixer on low speed 30 seconds, then on medium speed 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour into pans.
  • 2  Bake 28 to 33 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes. Remove from pans to cooling racks. Cool completely, about 1 hour.
  • 3  Meanwhile, gently rinse strawberries and dry on paper towels (berries must be completely dry). Line cookie sheet with waxed paper. In 1-quart saucepan, melt vanilla baking chips and shortening over low heat, stirring frequently. Remove from heat.
  • 4  Dip lower half of each strawberry into vanilla chip mixture; allow excess to drip back into saucepan. Place on waxed paper-lined cookie sheet. Refrigerate until coating is firm, about 30 minutes, or until serving time.
  • 5  Split each cake layer horizontally into 2 layers. On serving plate, place top of 1 layer, cut side up; spread with 1/3 cup of the jam. Add bottom half of layer, cut side down; spread with 1/3 cup jam. Add top of second layer, cut side up; spread with remaining 1/3 cup jam. Add bottom of remaining layer. Frost side and top of cake with frosting. Arrange dipped strawberries around top of cake. Store covered in refrigerator.
  • TIPS:   Split the layers by pulling a piece of unflavored dental floss horizontally through the middle of the layer, moving floss in a back-and-forth motion. Skip the dipped strawberries and just serve a fresh strawberry with each cake serving. If using oil rather than shortening when making dipped strawberries, garnish the cake just before serving

Seems I found Bloglandia again....................

Well, I  found the road back I think. For a while it seems I was lost as I found myself in my last post.
But, today step by step ..little by little...I'll get there.
I just have to stroll down the path...uh....with a cane it seems......I've broken some toes, 3, don't ask. Suffice to say I am glad September is around the corner and June- August is past..sigh. I just have to budget my time better and just roll with whatever...well maybe not roll seems at my age now I will hurt something..heheheh..you know what I mean. Anyhoo..

I have been tweeking some things in between that 4 letter word L-I-F-E happening
Be sure to visit the Television and Radio icons on my sidebar I have 2 new shows on.
The TV is set to the Lucy Show and Bob Hope's radio show is from an AFB in Texas.
Be sure to stop by and tune in.
As always I help my Blogpals over at the Etsy Cottage Style Blog with weekly blog parties. Come on over and check them out. They are open to everyone. there are 4 different ones each Monday of a month.
This week is....................
tinypic

......and I have been trying to update my Brown Gingham Creations website (still under construction) and wanting to start a new selling blog for my vintage apron line (online now, but awaiting the first post)

My slogan is

"Where it's one nation stitched together by apron strings!

Come on! Show off your Apronature(C)!

I hope you'll come by and Follow Me there too. I'll have posts about vintage aprons fabrics, sewing ideas from vintage magazines, vintage embroidery transfers you'll be able to copy and use, etc,and of course I will have items for sale too. But, I love custom orders. I can create a vintage inspired apron in any theme or color. You can also contact me with questions and requests.
It seems that on Etsy I just get lost and there is also another vendors who has a name verrrrry similar to mine and there seems nothing I can do...another sigh.....so I figured I might try a bit more marketing directly myself...I have found that some of you didn't realize stitchery is what I do...my bad.

guess it's time I speak up in Bloglandia Huh?

I also want to announce I will have a new weekly blog party right here on my BGC blog........Rednesday Wednesday..........................
As some of you know Sue, at It's a Very Cherry World has 'retired' her weekly party with a request for someone to take up the red letter day.. She and the party have been missed, so I have volunteered to host.
LOL, I know..I know.....me/// I haven't been able to put finger to keyboard intelligibly for weeks, but I said in the first paragraph (sorry long post, but give me a break, it's been a while) I was gonna follow the brightly lit  path thru Bloglandia and it led me here.  Beginning the first Wednesday in September ..cross my fingers cross my toes, dang forget the toes......will debut right here. What is Rednesday Wednesday you ask, well it's a very special day to celebrate all things           and hopefully very vintage, but new is okay too. Now Sue loved everything Cherry, of course, but I always joked 'cherries were fine, but strawberries are best' She always tucked in some little cherry thingy in some of her posts and I will continue the sweet tradition with
strawberries,. I'll send out an e-mail soon with more info so keep an eye on your inbox.

And, finally.... holy cow for someone who hasn't been able to post I am going on............I would like to give a big hug to all who have been checking up on me throughout the Summer. You don't know how much your kindnesses helped. Ok, I am done. I'm tyin on my apron and heading to the Apronation to 'pen' it's first post coming soon. 8)
